As the owner of a Golden Wonder Killifish or striped panchax, you must have wondered how to distinguish male and female. You may have watched your tank for hours but still can't tell them apart. That looks pathetic. Just kidding! I'll help you with this list of Golden Warrior Killifish male vs female differences!

  • Size

You might have guessed it already. Yeah, male golden Wonder killifish are generally bigger than females. That's why they look more powerful in the aquarium. I notice that my aquarium's big Golden Wonder killifish is always male.

  • Coloration

This is the most obvious difference! The male Killi Golden Wonder shows clearer, brighter colors and often shows a fantastic yellow color. Females have paler, earthier tones that are more unified. The males use those striking colors to attract the females.

  • Anal Fin Shape

Did you see the difference, too? The male golden wonder killifish has a pointed anal fin type. This provides an amazing, sleek look to it. Besides, the females show rounder and more blunted anal fins. It makes the females look more graceful visually.

  • Stripes

The male Golden Wonder killifish keeps things a bit more subtle with faded stripes. It could have been a big differentiator after its fins. On the other side, the females amaze us with broader and more prominent stripes. That makes them a bit more striking in the pattern.

  • Personality

We can distinguish Golden Wonder killifish males and females through their personalities. Males can be aggressive, especially when staking out territory or showing off. I've noticed males tend to be a bit excitable. In contrast, females have a calmer personality. Thus, I recommend keeping at least six fish with more females than males.
